This will be a quick one.
Just wanted to say I worked out this afternoon and did 30 minutes on the elliptical (still nursing my back, I didn't want to push too hard). I felt great cardio-wise, and I wanted to do a little more, so I walked on the treadmill a little after my elliptical program. Then I thought to myself, maybe...just maybe...I'll attempt to run a little. I started slow. My back felt okay. I ran a little harder...still okay. Low and behold, with this mentality, I ended up running 2 miles. That's not a lot distance-wise for me, but with a sore back lately, this was a HUGE accomplishment. Thank goodness! And it felt great.
This just makes me realize more and more that I HAVE to run. I am a runner, and I want to continue to run. Smiles today. :)
One other thought, maybe there's something to do with running indoors on a treadmill versus running outdoors on the pavement that's contributing to my back issue...hummmm...Any thoughts/suggestions anyone?
Back in the day I was a serious runner and every single time I ran on a treadmill I had pain--back, knees, feet, etc. I never had those issues while running on trails or pavement. I think for me, treadmill running just didn't feel natural and I didn't have good form. So, there might be a connection to your pain and running on the treadmill! Good luck!
